I have so had it here. I don't want to be at work anymore. Everybody just makes me want to scream at these twats everywhere. Bah.
Arcade Fire cancelled their remaining Euro dates so I wont be going to Cologne this weekend. Maybe I'll be able to compete the horse instead. Speaking of, I did just that last weekend and Solon and me did quite well. Not well enough to score 60%, but not bad either. He was quite sweet as well, though the canter and gallop is still a problem. I'm not sure how to solve that, other than by sheer mileage. We had a saddlefitter out last Friday and I bought a KN Tango, which hopefully will fit better than his current saddle. It's a little ironic to think the saddle now almost cost me more than the horse did when I bought him 5 years ago.
In the meantime a few more gigs got added to my schedule. Scissor Sisters on my birthday this year, Patti Smith, Lou Reed, Cat Power and now the Stones are playing Holland too in June. The old geezers list is growing! I did manage to sell off most of my The Police tickets, which is a relief, since I'm really strapped for cash at the moment (what's new?). For some reason most of them are in June, which is a bummer, since I'll just have started my new job and it will be difficult to take some time off.
I'm very glad to have the last two weeks of April off. I'm planning on maybe taking the horse away for a few days to a place with as few people as possible. That just sounds so tempting right now.
So today we opened this branch. This new branch that I did a lot of work on. My company tends to celebrate their openings with a big bang. There's parties for all the staff, suppliers get invited, and there's a gala opening on the first official day and all. So during the entire setup, when I was still trying to brush away the dust from unfinished computerfloors and cabling, this project manager came up to me and asked me would I go to the huge gala party big bang thing. Now I'm not a huge gala party big bang kind of person, and tend to feel very uncomfortable in a dress BUT!! I had anticipated this one, and i do have precisely one dress in my wardrobe and it's the gala kind, black sleek and glittery (don't ask me what shoes I'd wear with it...). Anyway, a day after he asked me to come, he came back to me and said "Actually, you don't have to come, 'cause there's only going to be high manager types, so". Slightly flabbergasted at apparently being dismissed I replied something like "I see", then decided I couldn't be bothered with it anymore anyway.
So Thursday afternoon, this same project manager type person suddenly had a brain fart and realised he hadn't arranged for any of our department to stand by in serious problem, and tried to make it sound like he hadn't meant it like that at all. I was not impressed.
Needless to say, I just spent 10:30pm to 2:30pm trying to fix their problem, which in the end seems to have been the exact same problem we were experiencing last week during our trial runs, of which our telecom provider assured me they had fixed it. After having worked 8 to 18:30 as well, with the prospect of being at the other side of the country at 8 Monday morning to solve some other screamer's problems I am no longer a happy camper.
Good thing about doing massive amounts of overtime is that they eventually mean another Bowie day in 2007 :)
